I actually pulled myself out of be this morning in order to put in a 20-miler before starting another 12 hour shift at 8 AM. I'm kinda proud of myself.

Felt really good so I pushed the pace. I was also in a hurry so that I would get to work on time. Ended up doing the 18 mile measured portion of the run in 1:52:27 = 6:15 average pace. Even though this is the official measured lakefront course that thousands of people run on every weekend I have my suspicions that several of the 0.5 mile sections are a little short. I think that I was really closer to 6:20 pace.

Out in 57:23 (6:22), back in 55:04 (6:07). Pushed it to marathon pace for the last 1.5 (5:47 pace).

How does a 2:40 marathoner consider 5:45 to be marathon pace?

From Dallen on Sun, Jul 13, 2008 at 16:38:03

I think I can run a 2:35 marathon so 5:54 would be an accurate marathon pace. 5:47 isn't all that far off.

Wow! A 2:35 should be there for you with a training run like this. Keep it up, that is an impressive run.
