Long run. 20 miles. By the mile markers along the lake I ran 6:32 average pace. Garmin said that I did 6:38. Probably somewhere in between.
It is 2 weeks until my 50K. I'm not sure if it is smart to do a hard long run this close to a race, but I am trying to see how my body reacts to a shorter taper. I'm taking a low key approach to this race, so I figure that I can experiment a little.
I did get some learning value out of the run. Normally I gradually work into a hord pace on my long runs, but I went out hard from the start (after a mile jog to the path). My body needed the warm-up. My legs were feeling rather shot halfway through. On the bright side, I was not wearing down at all cardiovascularly. |
